Ascending nerve roots.

چکیده

The usual anatomical description of the course of the nerve roots is that they run transversely or slightly downwards in the neck, with increasing downward obliquity in the thoracic and lumbar regions. Three consecutive necropsy examinations i w of the spinal cord, however, unexpectedly showed that many roots might in fact run cephalically (Fig. 1). This paper extends and modifies a previous * report (Reid, 1958) and records the direction of roots as found in 80 dissections in subjects 5 years of age and over. Evidence is presented to show that e;'. ascending roots may be radiologically demonstrable. The effects and significance of the anomaly are discussed. E XKA

Central projections of the lateral line nerves in the shovelnose sturgeon.

Primary projections of the anterior ( ALLN ) and posterior ( PLLN ) lateral line nerves were traced in the shovelnose sturgeon by means of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) histochemistry and silver degeneration. The trunk of the ALLN divides into dorsal and ventral roots as it enters the medulla. Fibers of the dorsal root form ascending and descending branches that terminate within the ipsilateral ...

Variabilities in Anatomical Arrangement of Sacral Plexus Roots

Introduction. Branches of sacral plexus play an important role in the motor and sensory innervation of the lower limb. Various variations observed during the spinal operations have motivated us to start the study aimed on determination of the sacral plexus formation from its exit of particular roots from sacral foramina up to their formation into terminal branches. Material and method. One hund...

Case Report: Formation of Median Nerve by Three Roots

Atypical connections in the formation of the brachial plexus are prevalent and have been reported in different articles. The present report describes a case of variation of the median nerve observed in the Iranian male cadaver during routine trial dissection. There are three roots for median nerve. Median nerve is formed by joining two lateral and medial cords of brachial plexus. Third root ...

Humanized TCR Transgenic Mice

Amino acid residues 111–129 represent an immunodominant epitope of myelin basic protein (MBP) in humans with human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-DRB1 * 0401 allele(s). The MBP 111– 129–specific T cell clone MS2-3C8 was repeatedly isolated from a patient with multiple sclerosis (MS), suggesting an involvement of MS2-3C8 T cells in the pathogenesis. To address the pathogenic potential of the MS2-3C8 T ...

Metathoracic neurons integrating intersegmental sensory information in the locust.

This paper describes the morphology and physiology of five types of local interneurons and three types of ascending intersegmental interneurons in the locust metathoracic ganglion that are points of convergence of sensory information from the wings. Four types of spiking local interneurons are members of a population with somata at the ventral midline. They are depolarised by stimulation of a m...
